How to Install Claude's Finance Plugins (Step by Step)
Anthropic publishes a suite of free finance plugins that turn Claude into a working research desk. This guide walks you through every step of getting them set up: account, marketplace, plugins, and a couple of first commands you can run today. Built for anyone who analyses companies, whether that's your own portfolio or your day job.
First, three quick definitions
Cowork is Claude's working mode for longer projects. It's where the plugins live. A marketplace is just a directory of plugins. You add it once. A plugin is a bundle of capabilities (modelling, screening, earnings notes) that gets added to Claude. None of this involves writing code.
Set up your Claude account
Three quick things before you can install anything.
- Create an account at claude.com. Sign up with the email you want to use.
- Pick a paid Claude plan. Pro starts at $20/month. The plugins live in a feature called Cowork, and Cowork is paid-only. The free Claude plan won't have access.
- Download the desktop app. Cowork runs on desktop, on the web and on mobile, but the desktop app is the one you want. It's the only place Claude can read and write the files already on your computer, and some plugins only work there. Once installed, open it and click Cowork at the top. That's the working mode where plugins live.
