First, three quick definitions

Cowork is Claude's working mode for longer projects. It's where the plugins live. A marketplace is just a directory of plugins. You add it once. A plugin is a bundle of capabilities (modelling, screening, earnings notes) that gets added to Claude. None of this involves writing code.

Part 1

Set up your Claude account

Three quick things before you can install anything.

  1. Create an account at claude.com. Sign up with the email you want to use.
  2. Pick a paid Claude plan. Pro starts at $20/month. The plugins live in a feature called Cowork, and Cowork is paid-only. The free Claude plan won't have access.
  3. Download the desktop app. Cowork only runs in the desktop app, not the browser version. Once installed, open it and click Cowork at the top. That's the working mode where plugins live.
